Welcome to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church

  • New message (3/27/20):

The Diocese of Sacramento recently communicated to Fr. Matt that we must stop distributing communion outside of Mass.  The reasons are a few.

First, although we were taking good measures toward following the restrictions placed on all people for the stopping of the spread of COVID-19, for example: by dispersing our distribution over various times of the day, and therefore, ensuring that no more than 10 people would be in the church at one time, and by ensuring that the people were keeping their social distance of 6 ft., we still were compromising the restrictions because many people were coming into close contact with Fr. Matt.  Potentially, Fr. Matt could become a carrier of the virus and spread it to multiple people under this practice.

Secondly, the diocese is trying to avoid having a great variety in the individual parishes’ approach to offering religious services at this time so as to avoid people judging their priests… “some faithful, others not,” in an unnecessary way.

Our response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Fr. Matt would like to be able to send you text messages and emails during this crisis.  If you would like to be available to those communications, please sign up at the church on the sheets on the table at the entrance or email the parish office (ollcolusa@yahoo.com), according to your language preference (English or Spanish).

According to the pastoral guidelines of Bishop Soto for COVID-19 our parish office is closed for in-person visits and meetings. All business should be conducted by phone, email, or other social media.

Praying in the church and going to confession are considered “essential activities” like going to the grocery store for food. It is the intention of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish to take all measures of precaution mandated by our state and federal government for the stopping of the spread of the Coronavirus. For this reason, you must follow our particular guidance in receiving these religious services.

  • These spiritual helps to be experienced in person at the church at this time are ONLY for those who are NOT at risk of carrying the Coronavirus according to the following symptoms provided by the CDC:
    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
  • If you are sick please stay home and/or go see a doctor.
  • While at the church please do not make physical contact with anyone by trying to shake their hands or touch them for any reason
  • Please keep a safe social distance of 6ft.
  • *PLEASE NOTE:  If the number of people at any Holy Hour significantly exceeds 10 we plan to lock the doors and hopefully add more time that same day.  We will put a note on the door saying for example, “We are currently full, there will be more time of Adoration later, beginning at x time.”

Sunday Reception of Holy Communion:

***We are no longer distributing Holy Communion on Sundays as explained above.

We invite you to pray the following prayer of Spiritual Communion:

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

Our Lord to Sr. Benigna Consolata: “Make as many Spiritual Communions as possible, to supply for the many Sacramental Communions which are not made. One every quarter of an hour is not enough. Make them shorter, but more numerous.”
