| Colusa Crawdad Festival a Big Success! Five years ago, at the suggestion of Knight Henry Royal, the Knights of Columbus organized the Crawdad Festival Charity Fundraiser. The rest is history! For five years, people have been coming to the Crawdad Festival to enjoy the food, the music, and the wonderful Colusa small-town atmosphere. The food every year features crawdads, a small freshwater “lobster.” Crawdads are well known from the swamps in Louisiana, and are common here in the rice fields and canals. This year, one could choose from Crawdad Etouffee , Gumbo, Peel-n-Eat Crawdads, and Red Beans & Rice. Also offered were tacos, hot dogs & hot links, ribs, and beer & wine, as well as kettle corn and other snacks. The music was especially good, being a lively mixture of Cajun and Zydeco. The Bands included CourtaBleu, Fais Do Do, CZ and the Bon Vivants, and the Bayou Boys. Dancing went on all the day long. There were also games for the kids, face painting, and other activities. A good time was had by all, and we are already looking forward to next year. The Knights want to thank everyone who helped to make the festival a success. This year was the biggest and best ever! Chairman John Rogers, the committees and all the volunteers did a wonderful job. And of course, we want to thank everyone who came, enjoyed themselves, and supported the festival. See you all next year! |
