Are you Planning a Baptism?
Are baptism usually done at OLL every 2nd and 4th Saturday (English 11:00 am, Spanish 10:00 am at the OLL Church). All of the following requirements are still require to baptize. Please contact the parish office if you have any questions.
To be scheduled for baptism you must receive a sealed ticket for a specific date. To get the ticket you must:
- Fill out and turn in our application to our office. One for the parents and one for each godparent.
- Turn in the godparent applications filled out and signed by them (one per person). You need at least one godparent to baptize. Please see below requirements for godparents.
- Provide a certificate of attendance of a baptism preparation class within the last 2 years (both parents and both godparents). If you attended the class here, please indicate when was the class taken.
- Pay the fee for each child to be baptized. Fee: Our Lady of Lourdes Parishioner $50. If you are from outside the parish (non parishioner) there is an additional fee of $50 per child.
- Provide a copy of the birth certificate of the child to be baptized.
- Go to a short preparation meeting with the priest. The secretary will make an appointment for you when you turn in your applications.
Everything must be complete at least one month before the date you wish to baptize.

Classes are held once a month in English and Spanish. Call the office 530-458-4170 to verify actual times for that given month and to sign up for the class.

When choosing a godparent/sponsor, please make sure you choose someone that meets the requirements:
Regulations for Sponsors of Candidates for Baptism and Confirmation
Who may be baptismal sponsor/godparent? Insofar as possible, one to be baptized is to be assigned a sponsor. In the case of an adult baptism, the sponsor’s role is to assist the person in Christian initiation. In the case of an infant baptism, the role is, together with the parents, to present the child for baptism, and to help the child live a Christian life befitting of the baptized, and faithfully to fulfill the duties inherent in baptism. One sponsor, male or female is sufficient but there may be two, one of each sex. It is prohibited to have either two male or two female sponsors.
To be admitted to undertake the office of sponsor, a person must:
Be appointed by the candidate or baptism, or by the parents, or by whoever stands in their place, or (if necessary) by the parish priest and is to have the qualifications and the intention of fulfilling this role;
- Be not less than 16 years old;
- Be a Catholic who has been baptized, confirmed and has received the Eucharist, and who lives a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken;
- Not to be bound by any canonical penalty legitimately imposed or declared;
- Not be either the father or the mother of the one to be baptized. These criteria are the same for those who would sponsor a candidate for confirmation.
- Because the godfather and godmother must lead a life in harmony with the Catholic faith, the person, if married, must be in a valid marriage recognized by the Catholic Church (having received the sacrament of marriage). A person who lives with a partner in free union or only married by civil law cannot be godfather or godmother.
¿Estás planeando un bautismo?
Los bautismos se realizan regularmente cada 2do y 4to sábado del mes (español 10:0am y 11:00 am en ingles) en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes). Sí, se están llevando acabo bautizos, pero tienen que tener todos los siguientes requisitos. Si tienes preguntas por favor comunícate a la oficina parroquial.
Para poder bautiza tienes que completar todo el proceso y obtener un boleto sellado que indica que puedes bautizar en nuestra parroquia.
Para obtener el boleto debes:
- Llenar y entregar la solicitud de nuestra parroquia para bautizar. Una para los padres y una para cada padrino. Por favor de referirse a los requisitos para ser padrino o madrina.
- Entregar la solicitud para ser padrinos de nuestra parroquia, mínimo se ocupa ya sea un padrino o madrina para bautizar. El padrino y madrina tiene que llenar una solicitud individualmente (una por persona) y ser firmada por cada uno.
- Entregar comprobante que los padres y padrinos han tomado una clase de preparación para bautizar.
- Pagar la tarifa por cada niño que se bautizará. Tarifa: Parroquiano de Nuestra Señora De Lourdes $50. Si usted no es un parroquiano registrado o viene de otra parroquia ay un costo adicional de $50 por niño.
- Proporcione una copia del certificado de nacimiento del niño/a que se va a bautizar.
- Los padres deberán asistir a una breve junta de preparación con el sacerdote. La secretaria le hará una cita cuando entreguen sus solicitudes
Todo debe estar completo mínimo un mes antes de la fecha que desees bautizar.
Clase de preparación para bautizar
Las clases se llevan a cabo una vez al mes. Por favor de llamar a la oficina para confirmar la fecha y para anotarse para la clase.

Es muy importante de llegar a tiempo, porque ya que empezó la clase no se va permitir a nadie más entrar.

Al elegir un padrino/madrina, asegúrese de que cumpla con los requisitos:
Reglamento para Padrinos de Bautismo y Confirmación:
¿Quién puede ser padrino/madrina de bautismo? En la medida de lo posible, al bautizado se le debe asignar un padrino/madrina. En el caso de un bautismo de adultos, el papel del padrino es ayudar a la persona en la iniciación cristiana. En el caso del bautismo de un infante, el papel es, junto con los padres, presentar al niño para el bautismo y ayudar al niño a vivir una vida cristiana digna del bautizado, y cumplir fielmente los deberes inherentes al bautismo.
Puede ser solo una persona, ya sea un padrino o madrina, suficiente, pero puede haber dos, una pareja que sea hombre y mujer. Está prohibido tener dos padrinos(madrinas) del mismo sexo.
El padrino y madrina deben llevar una vida congruente con la fe católica y la misión que se va a asumir:
Deben ser designado por el adulto que se va a bautizar, o por los padres, o por quien esté en su lugar, o (si es necesario) por el párroco, y debe tener las calificaciones y la intención de desempeñar este papel;
- Ser mayor de 16 años;
- Ser un católico que ha sido bautizado, confirmado y ha recibido la Eucaristía, y que vive una vida de fe acorde con el papel que debe desempeñar;
- No estar obligado por ninguna pena canónica legítimamente impuesta o declarada;
- No ser ni el padre ni la madre del que ha de ser bautizado. Nótese bien, estos criterios son los mismos para aquellos que apadrina a un candidato para la confirmación.
- Debido a que el padrino o madrina debe llevar una vida en armonía con la fe católica, la persona, si está casada, debe estar en un matrimonio válido reconocido por la Iglesia (que allá recibido el sacramento de matrimonio). Una persona que vive con una pareja en unión libre o solo casada por el civil no puede ser padrino o madrina.
